Xteink X4 — Complete Beginner's Guide
What's in the Box
The Xteink X4 ships with the tablet, a USB-C charging cable, a stylus with replacement nibs, and a quick start card. No charger is included — any USB-C adapter 5V/2A or higher works fine.
Initial Setup
Power on by holding the button on the top edge for 3 seconds. The setup wizard walks you through language, Wi-Fi, and account creation. You can skip account creation and use it offline.
Essential Settings to Change
Go to Settings → Display and enable "A2 refresh mode" for faster page turns when reading. Under Settings → Stylus, calibrate your pen for accurate writing. Set "Sleep timeout" to 15 minutes to save battery.
Installing Apps
The X4 runs Android 12, so you can sideload APKs or enable the Google Play Store. The built-in app store has curated eink-optimized apps. For the best reading experience, install KOReader or Moon+ Reader.
Tips from the Community
Disable animations (Settings → Developer → Window animation scale → Off) for a snappier feel. Use dark mode in reading apps for a paper-like high-contrast look. The community has compiled 160+ tips at readme.club/tips.
